Approved by King George III in June 1773 this 28" barrel flintlock carbine was named after General George Augustus Eliott, commander of the 15th or "The Kings's Own Royal Light Dragoons". These were mainly produced at cavalry "saddle ring" carbines, however they are also seen with out the saddle ring bar, instead fitted with sling swivels. There is an example of one such Eliott circa 1785 of one such carbine in the
