and the clothes most certainly are—but it’s an anomalous one for having (the remnants of) a face

and I love how the mesh was positioned straight across on one side and on the diagonal on the other

which appears to have some glue residue (not sticky and not showing through) on reverse

Clearly I've got words and language on my brain this week--plus I just made a visit to my favorite antiquarian book seller in Maine--so here's this lovely

This trompe l'oeil style oil on canvas is not tightly painted enough to fool anyone, which perhaps makes it especially Magritte ian! I take that for an opium pouch at right, with what I presume is meant to be yellow silk at top and then a red tie, and then a couple of cigars kind of awkwardly poking out from inside the box? And a corn cob pipe at near left,
